Arch Linux version of kdesrc-build
Nmariusp, in the revert message, you say The version of kdesrc-build from Arch might be old. The canonical way to install kdesrc-build is from https://invent.kde.org/sdk/kdesrc-build. But Arch Linux has also kdesrc-build-git in AUR. Can you explain in more details? Ashark (talk) 20:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- The wiki pages "Get Involved/development" and the wiki pages with URLs starting with "Get Involved/development" are about the answer to the question "I am a C++ developer, I want to program for the KDE community, I support free software, what is the procedure that I can follow correctly in order to write to the long lived git branches of the KDE git repositories?". We need to provide one procedure, not more procedures. We need to provide the canonical procedure. We need to be able to support this one procedure. That is why e.g. we tell people that they should use a better supported Linux OS, not FreeBSD. How many of the current people that program for the KDE community and that are available in the Matrix channel "#kde-welcome:kde.org" are currently using kdesrc-build provided by Arch such that they can support/troubleshoot/help the people that want to start programming for KDE? The procedure should also be short with few steps. The procedure should also have few optional pathways such that people do not end up on less beaten tracks. —This unsigned comment is by Nmariusp (talk) 20:16, 9 September 2023.
