Get Involved/Testing/Kanagram

  • Action : Click on the Kanagram Logo.
  • Expected : The logo animates on moving cursor over it and displays “About Kanagram” window.
  • Action : Select different tabs in About Kanagram (About, Authors, Thanks To)
  • Expected :
  • a) Version and KDE Development Platform displayed at top.
  • b) Each tab shows the details of the developers, authors and their contributions.
  • c) “Authors” tab has a link to report bugs.
  • d) A close button at the bottom right (Other than the one at top right for all windows). Clicking on it closes the “About” window.
  • e) A “?” button i.e., Help button at the top right (near top close button) should show the help window.

2.Blackboard

  • Action : Click on the top right of blackboard showing categories.
  • Expected : Changes the category. Eg., Currency, Clothing, Fruits, Inventions, Easy, Hard, Medium etc . The words belonging to selected category displayed in the centre of the blackboard.
  • Action : Click “hint” at bottom left of blackboard.
  • Expected : Displays the hint of given anagram in a dialog box.
  • Action : Click “reveal word” on the bottom right of blackboard.
  • Expected : The word in the rearranges to show the correct answer.

3.Enter Box

  • Action: Click the Enter box
  • Expected: Cursor appears. Player can enter their answer and press enter or hit the arrow button.
  • Action: Click the arrow button after typing the answer/Hit Enter key.
  • Expected: Box turns red and a sound is heard for wrong answer. Box turns red and a different sound heard for right answer. Next anagram appears if the answered correctly.

4.Tool bar

  • Note : (Moving mouse over each icon displays the function)
  • Action: Click the next button (The right handed arrow)
  • Expected: Next question appears on the blackboard of the same category. A sound is heard.
  • Action: Click Configure Kanagram.
  • Expected : Configure – Kanagram window appears. 3 tabs are displayed.
  • Action: Click Defaults
  • Expected: All the settings are set back to default setting.
  • Action : Click Help
  • Expected : Kanagram Handbook opens.
  • a) General:
  • Action : Click Hints drop down menu.
  • Expected : Shows settings about Hints.


  • Action: Click Vocabulary drop down menu.
  • Expected : Display language options are displayed.
  • Also- Checkbox to enable/disable sounds present.


  • b) Vocabularies:
  • Action : Scroll the table
  • Expected: Categories and their description displayed.


  • Action : Click “Create New” button.
  • Expected: Vocabulary editor appears. Options to add Vocabulary name, Description, adding new words, Hint are present.


  • Action : Click Download new vocabulary.
  • Expected : Kanagram Add-On Installer opens. Loads different word packs in different languages. Options to order, sort, and search are displayed. There are also 2 icons to change the menu view setting to “list” and “icons”.
  • • Newest: Displays latest pack on top.
  • • Rating : Displays the highest rated pack on top
  • • Most Downloads: Most downloaded pack is sorted at the top.
  • • Installed: Installed Add-ons are displayed.
  • c)Shortcuts:
  • Action : Enter query in search box
  • Expected : Required results should be displayed.


  • Action: Click on the tabs of the columns.
  • Expected : The table is sorted with respect to the elements in the column.


  • Action : Click on each item in the table.
  • Expected : Options to edit the shortcuts are displayed.


  • (In the Tool bar)
  • Action: Click the Kanagram Handbook icon on tool bar.
  • Expected: Kanagram Handbook opens up in another window.
  • Action : Click About Kanagram.
  • Expected:

5.Default Shortcuts

  • Action : Press F1
  • Expected : Kanagram Handbook appears.
  • Action : Press Ctrl+N
  • Expected: Next Anagram is displayed.
  • Action : Press PgDown.
  • Expected: Next Category of vocabulary appears.
  • Action: Press PgUp.
  • Expected: Previous Category of vocabulary appears.
  • Action : Ctrl+Q
  • Expected: Quits Kanagram.
  • Action: Press Ctrl+R.
  • Expected: Answer of the anagram is revealed.
  • Action: Press Ctrl+H.
  • Expected : Shows Hint.
