Amarok Fast Forward 1.4.4 released featuring music store

Amarok continues to blast ahead with release 1.4.4. We're thrilled to be able to take our long association with Magnatune to new heights with the addition of an integrated DRM-free music store with full-length mp3 previews. Magnatune's "we are not evil" attitude guarantees that you can purchase awesome tunes and the artist will recieve half the profit.

With 1.4.4 comes basic support for the Rio Karma. Many bug fixes and additions for the other media device plugins have also been made. Now Amarok is truly your "one-stop-media-device" shop, supporting nearly all the major media device's on the market.

Amarok 1.4.4 may very well be our closest to being bug free release ever! Over 100 bugs have been closed for this release, thanks in no small part to the tireless effort of our development team. Martin Aumueller and Alexandre Oliveira in particular have been on a bug squashing craze for this release, and first-time contributor, Ovidiu Gheorghioiu, has submitted a large bundle of patches and fixes to improve Amarok's efficiency and response.

I think this may very well be our most bug-fixingest release ever! Over 100 bugs have been closed for this release, thanks in no small part to the tireless effort of our development team. Martin Aumueller and Alexandre Oliveira in particular have been on a bug squashing craze for this release, each chalking up two digits in bug fixing numbers.

Those of you who are more interested in new features have no need to worry either! Amarok 1.4.4 comes with all sorts of cool new things, we even have an integrated music store now! Thats right, Amarok now integrates seemlessly with the Magnatune music store, this continues a trend of cooperation between us Magnatune provided much of the music that was on the AmarokLive 1.3 cd, as many of you may remember. The music store allows full previews of all of Magnatune's songs, along with the ability to purchase any music you would like from right inside Amarok! Magnatune's "We are not evil" policy guarantees that half of the money you pay for the music goes straight to the artist.

1.4.4 also has support for the Rio Karma, making Amarok your one-stop-media-device shop, with support for almost all of the major media devices currently on the market. Crossfading has also been improved, along with many fixes and additions to other media device plugins. See the full changelog below for further information.

Amarok continues to blast ahead and releases 1.4.4 featuring an integrated DRM-free music store, with full-length mp3 previews and a "we're not evil" motto. Now you can listen to some awesome tunes knowing that Magnatune will pay the artist half of the profit. In addition to Magnatune support, Amarok 1.4.4 allows you to transfer .wav files to your iPod, includes Rio Karma support, and adds MTP playlist support.

Amarok 1.4.4 includes an uncountable number of bugfixes, and thanks to skillful new contributors playlist loading and other common tasks are now magnitudes faster. Crossfading has also been improved to fade-out on track end, and a plethora of media device fixes make this the most versatile media device manager around.
