In a globalized world with ever increasing use of internet-based services and applications, it is relatively easy to fall into the trap of bad actors as well as services and software that do not respect users and their data, threatening the user's freedom and safety.

KDE, as an open source software project that strives to provide the best software KDE has to offer to our users, must also take their users' security and privacy into consideration. As such, we must not compromise our users' personal information and must avoid bad practices, respecting the freedom of users and providing software that has transparency in code or inner functionality, can be audited, is compliant with security standards and does not collect unneeded information.
