The main resources for localization and other info regarding KDE's localization teams is at the KDE Localization web site, so check there for more information. This wiki page provides an overview of localization at KDE.

Internationalization (i18n) vs. Localization (l10n)

What is the difference between internationalization and localization?

Generally speaking, programmers internationalize their applications by writing applications so they can be run in any locale. Translation teams localize the applications by taking the internationalized application and adapting it for a specific locale.

Localization Team Management Tool (LTMT)

During the l10n BoF at Desktop Summit 2011, we realized that we had duplicated services and code doing the some thing (at least this was true for the French and the Italian teams): managing the translation process, mainly file booking.

So, we joined our efforts to have a good working tool to manage the translation process which could extend existing l10n.kde.org website and get the best from existing tools.

Localization Teams

In the table below we provide an overview of localization teams within KDE. For additional information, see the KDE Localization web site.

If the team of the language you are searching for is not here, please check the KDE Localization web site. If the language is also not there, contact [email protected] to request more information on how to create a new team.

The tables are ordered by language code, e.g., de Deutsch ('German') appears before el for Ελληνικά ('Greek').
