Telegram Support Discontinued (September 2023)

The Telegram bridge to Matrix rooms shuts down on 20 September 2023; see this mailing list post. Telegram rooms after this date will no longer be used for official KDE communication and bridges to KDE's Matrix rooms will be shut down.

Matrix will continue to be used by KDE for collaboration within the community.

Telegram

Telegram is a real-time chat program, similar to instant messages and IRC. Telegram offers a mobile, desktop and web client. You can install the Telegram desktop client using the KDE Discover Software Store or using the command line, which differs based on which GNU/Linux distribution you're using:

  • Arch/Antergos/Manjaro: sudo pacman -S telegram-desktop
  • Debian/Ubuntu/Kubuntu/KDE Neon: sudo apt install telegram-desktop
  • Fedora: sudo dnf install telegram-desktop
  • Gentoo: sudo emerge telegram-desktop-bin
  • openSUSE: sudo zypper install telegram-desktop
  • Flatpak: flatpak install flathub org.telegram.desktop

Telegram Channels

Telegram Groups

Most groups are bridged to the corresponding IRC channel, so if you only join the Telegram group you will also see messages from the IRC channel, and vice-versa.
