amaroK 1.4 'Fast Forward' Released
May 17, 2006 (The INTERNET). The amaroK Project is happy to announce the next major release of the award-winning amaroK media player. amaroK is the most functional audio player and manager for Linux®- and Unix®-like systems. It includes an easy-to-use collection system, playback via the xine and Helix multimedia frameworks, highly controllable playlist management, support for Podcasts and a lot more.
Major changes include:
- Tagging support for all major audio formats (OGG, MP3, MP4, AAC, FLAC, RealMedia, WMA)
- Greatly enhanced media device support (iPod®, IFP/IRiver®, generic USB Mass Storage-based devices)
- Reworked tagging dialog for better management of the collection
- Gapless playback
- User configurable rating system
- More options to configure the sidebar
- Improved podcast integration
- Many backend optimizations and user interface improvements

Getting amaroK 1.4 'Fast Forward'
The Fastest and easiest way to obtain amaroK is to download pre-built packages for your Linux® distribution. At release time there are packages for Arch, Debian, Gentoo, Kubuntu, Mandriva and SUSE. You find them at the amaroK download page. Other distributions will follow, so if yours isn't listed yet at the download page, it should be available soon.
