In a globalized world with ever increasing use of internet-based services and applications, it is relatively easy to fall into the trap of bad actors as well as services and software that do not respect users and their data, threatening the user's freedom and safety.
KDE, as an open source software project that strives to provide the best software KDE has to offer to our users, must also take users' security and privacy into consideration. As such, our software must:
- Not collect unneeded data
- Avoid compromising users' personal information
- Respect users' freedom
- Have transparency in code and inner functionality
- Be able to be audited
- Comply with security standards
