KDE is powered by its amazing volunteers who donate their expertise and time! But past a certain point, people often find that their time budgets shrink, and their monetary needs rise. It's important that people can continue to contribute to KDE on a professional basis, ensuring that their substantial skills remain within the community.
To that effect, there are various ways that people can make a living working on KDE:
- Work for a software consultancy within the KDE ecosystem, many of whom work on KDE software directly or offer their employees time to work on KDE projects
- Work for the KDE e.V.
- Apply for grants offered by NLnet and FUTO to fund a specific project you'd like to work on that would benefit KDE. Basically everything KDE does is eligible! The KDE e.V. is available to help with the grant-writing process; email [email protected] for assistance. See also How to write a grant proposal.
