A list of cool features in KDE software that might form the basis of talking points or demonstrations of KDE software:
{{warning|This page is outdated.}}

*KWin desktop effects, particularly the useful ones: Cover Flow switcher, Expose type effect
''This page is far from done and needs a lot of work.
*Kopete - “You’ve got all your chat accounts in one app?”
Inspiration could come from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_13_Talking_Points
*Amarok - Wikipedia, Flickr, YouTube, Magnatune etc integration
Moreover the content from the Whitepaper project should end up here as well.''
*Digikam - it’s just so cool all round, but the various export plugins are killer features
*KRunner - a real swiss army knife (perhaps more for a technical audience)
*Marble - very visual anyway, but fire up the OpenStreetMap view and people want it
*Gwenview – it’s just so shiny, particularly in full-screen mode, basic photo editing
*Konqueror - F9 -> Tab "Services" -> "Audio CD Browser" -> "copying" an audio CD. Cow-Orker: "You CAN'T do that!" Me: "Right, but KDE can." (Wee bit technical though?)
** Dolphin too - most probably demonstrate using Dolphin for a general audience
*Yakuake - geeks and gamers generally fall in love with it (especially when coming from Gnome)
** Not sure about this don't use it personally - probably not for a general audience but maybe useful in some cases
*Microblog widget - innocently opened on the desktop..
** Possibly - not common elsewhere?
*Meteo applet in a PANEL (weather applet on desktop takes too much space and is generally useless, whereas put in the panel it's discrete and classy when you click on it and just pop-up the weather state!)
** Need to have a look at this and see
*Folder View - quick and easy access to certain folders, certain kinds of files
** Possibly, particularly if combined with activities, perhaps (have different files on your desktop in work and play modes?
*Kwallet - Handle different password, with a single one!
** Perhaps - Gnome has this too, how about Windows and Mac?

==Hot topics, good answers==

Some suggestions that seem to lack a "wow" feature at the moment (although all very nice apps of course). Please add a more specific wow feature if there is one:
In the Strategy Section you will find [[Promo/Strategy#Hot_Topics.2C_Good_Answers | answers to typical questions]] and information on how to talk about some subjects like Akonadi and Nepomuk.
*K3b - Application for CD / DVD / Blueray authoring. Use instead of Nero / PowerISO / Easy CD Creator. Can rip, copy, erase and or burn with a number of supported formats, using application interface or guided wizards.

** So how's it obviously better than Nero etc?
==''Wow'' features==
*KMyMoney2(soon to be version 4) - Application for home money management.  Use instead of Microsoft Money.  Hides the complexity of double accounting in simple to edit transactions.  Customizable reports show you where your money is being spent, with future projections.  Able to import from online bank websites.
Things to talk about or demonstrate that make KDE software better than the competition
** Wow factor?

*Kaffeine - Application for DVD and video viewing.  Replaces PowerDVD / Microsoft Media Player.  Intuitive interface and able to skip the none skipable parts of a DVD.
*KWin desktop effects
** Not obeying DVD spec (skipping stuff) is nice, but is it a wow? Also the software has some legal issues (potentially) in some places so not suitable for demonstating everywhere
**Bling: Cover Flow switcher
*Kdenlive - Application for video editing. Video editing for users. Similar to Sony Vegas
**Useful: Desktop grid combined with expose type effect
** Is it better? What's the wow feature?
*Folder View
*Dolphin - Very easy file browsing(the + mark feature for example), nice previews, split feature
** quick and easy access to all kinds of real and virtual (think Nepomuk, network shares, etc) folders
** Again, what's the wow factor (maybe once some more Nepomuk stuff gets added?
** WOW: you can have more than one on your desktop - scrollable and you can digg down by hovering your mouse. Far more efficient than a bunch of random files on the desktop...
*Dolphin - Audio CD ripping just by copying folders!
** Quickly drag'n'drop a folder on the desktop, create folderview, work from it, close it. No copying of files, yet everything on the desktop. Works great with activities!
** Mentioned above, but thanks
*Kopete
*Device notifier applet + Battery applet
**''All'' your chat accounts in one app
** Really a wow compared to other platforms
*Amarok
*KMess - easy, fast and powerful MSN chat application.
**Wikipedia, Flickr, YouTube integration
** But better than the others in an obvious wow kind of way?
**Magnatune - buy your music right here
*Digikam
**Brilliant editor built in
**Export to everywhere with kipi
*KRunner
**You computer is smart - type what you want to do/use
*Marble
**OpenStreetMap
*Gwenview
*KIO
**Audiocd - "copy" files straight from the CD
**Fish
*Microblog widget
*Kwallet
*Plasma flexibility - build your own workspace
